LABOR DAY CLASSIC AAA TOURNAMENT
Did you know that Labor Day began around 1882, as a proposal by the Central Labor Union's secretary, Matthew Maguire, to create a day off for the "working man?" In modern times, it has come to be viewed as summer's "Last Hurrah", a time to celebrate with friends and family the ending of Summer's sun filled days and the beginning of Fall's apple crisp air!
Come celebrate new beginnings by skating at The Colonials "Labor Day AAA Classic", August 29-31, 2008. What a great way to get your new 08-09 hockey season off to a rollicking start! This is an up-tempo, highly competitive AAA tournament. It offers thrills and chills, from the drop of the first puck, to the last goal scored! We will be fielding 4 to 6 teams from Squirt Minor (’99) to Bantam Major (’94), with a guarantee of 4 games. Trophies will be awarded to all players of the Championship Game. There are no spectator fees!
Mennen Arena is only 25 minutes west from NYC in historic Morris County, New Jersey. Bring your team for first class hockey and indulge in the history of the surrounding area--from National Parks, including: Ford's Mansion/Washington Headquarters, Jockey Hollow, Fort Nonsense--to county parks: Lewis Morris Park (where you can arrange to have a team picnic), Foster Fields, Patriots Path, Sunrise Lake and more. There are great hotels within minutes of our rink, too! Start your fall hockey season on a high note-HOCKEY, FRIENDS AND A GREAT PLACE TO SPEND A WEEKEND. It doesn't get any better than that!
