The New Jersey Colonials Bantam Minor (’99′s) team won the Toronto Red Wing Early Bird Tournament, the weekend of September 7-9, out of a field of 35 teams.
Going 2-0-2, in the preliminary rounds, the 99′s won their division, setting up a quarter final match up against the Vaughan Kings, the 2011 3rd ranked team in Canada! The Colonials won, 4-1, leading them to a semi-final duel with the Toronto Nationals, Canada’s #2 ranked team! The Colonials beat them in a squeaker, 4-3.
The championship game was then set between the top North American team, the Toronto Marlboros and the Colonial 99′s. Troy Kobryn was sensational in the net, as NJC prevailed, 4-1 over the Marlies, to win the championship! Congratulations to the Bantam Minors and Coach Noel Rubin, on their outstanding early season victory!
